Hogg’s Heaven Farm began when Chuck and Angela Hogg moved onto 5 acres in Shelby County, Kentucky.  At first we enjoyed the 5 acres to ride dirt bikes, play with our son, then our daughter and many years later another son! The large backyard became their soccer practice field.  Not long after moving here we began with our first group of chickens for our family to enjoy, which was in 2009.

In 2018, Angela and Hannah picked up a few chicks and ducklings, reinvigorating our joy for raising chickens.  By 2019, the small flock flourished, and we were off to find new breeds, rare breeds, and exotic breeds that others may have never seen in Kentucky.  

Chuck began hobby hatching Ayam Cemani chicks from around the US, obtaining high quality chicks, and hatching over 400 Ayam Cemani’s across multiple different lines, including Raven and Greenfire farms.  During this same time, the hobby of hatching turned into another hobby of building incubators with electronics and sensors from scratch.

In 2020, the hobby turned a new leaf, as we obtained many other breeds.  We maintained the desire to obtain high quality lines, from rare and exotic breeders around the US.  We wanted lines that did not already exist in the state, or were not offered regularly in our area.  

At the end of 2020, we realized we needed the protection of Large Guardian Dogs.  Of course, we had to find one that was rare, and not very known in the USA.  We acquired two different lines of Bulgarian Shepherds, known as Karakachans.  Athena and Apollo were added to our farm, and in 2022, their first litter arrived.

Beginning in 2022, Hogg’s Heaven began hatching 100-200 chicks every 3 days, to offer to customers in the surrounding area.  Our breeds became so desirable, that customers travel from 5 hours away because we do not ship yet, something we hope to change in 2023.

We are just a husband and wife team trying to help educate others, and provide healthy chicks that also represent the quality and standards of their breeds.
